Spaghetti

Whenever we eat Spaghetti, Garrett gets stripped down because he goes to town and makes a mess. Today, we had to start eating before Theron made it home from work. When he finally walked in the door Garrett said, "Hey, Dad! Take your clothes off, we're eating Spaghetti."

More Halloween Fun

Here is Karsten's Class on Halloween. Can you find him? I thought he skipped out of the picture, then I realized he just covered his face completely....he was a Ninja, remember...

Here is our traditional "baby-in-a-pumpkin". Katelyn hated it at first, but then she calmed down.  I couldn't get her to look at the camera, though.

Here is Morgan's class right after their costume parade. They were just starting to perform 3 little pumpkins for us.  Right next to Morgan, on the end, is Justin Beiber. She was pretty cute.

Halloween

..It's only been a year since our last post:( So, this year we had a Ninja, Fairy Princess (same as last year), Mexican Monster, and our traditional baby Purple Dragon. Here are some pictures. We had great weather that night. Karsten RAN off with his friend Gideon and hit every house in the neighborhood. Then they came back and handed out candy while I ran over to the neighbors. We were not sure how they would fare being in charge of the house AND the candy stash, but I returned and was pleasantly surprised to see how diplomatic Karsten was at the door. We had a fun night!

Christmas Pictures

Happy New Year! I'm behind as usual, but one of my New Years Resolutions is to be better at keeping some sort of journal for my kids to look back and know something about their life as youngsters. They have been doing so many funny things lately that I don't want to forget the times either, so maybe, just maybe, I'll update this just a bit more.

We had a fun trip to my Mimi & Papas for Christmas and we got to meet Cousin Suvi for the first time! We were excited to see Amber, Jon and Suvi and hang out with them and Mimi and Papa for the week. Thanks Mimi and Papa for being good hosts as usual. I'm especially grateful to Mimi who was excited (I think/hope you were excited?) to wake up early with Garrett every morning so I could be lazy and sleep in. I never sleep in so it was a nice treat. Now I'm sure Mimi is grateful to be able to sleep in again :)

Here are few pictures from Christmas:

The kids on Christmas Eve after they put out their stockings and left their treats for Santa and the Reindeer. This was the best shot I could get!Morgan and her Cousin, Suvi. Morgan loves little babies and was so excited to meet Suvi! Morgan ready to try out her new roller skates and pads
I've already failed at updating regularly. This post has been in my drafts since January. It's now November :)

Halloween Pictures

Better late than never :) I think our batteries on our camera were dying so none of our pictures turned out. But, here are a few non-blurry shots. You've got your Lion (I think this costume has seen it's better days), Morgan the Fairy (and her best friend Addie the princess) and Karsten the Pirate. We had a fun Halloween.

Pumpkin cupcakes

Karsten had a Pumpkin tasting day at school and after they made of cookbook of all the recipe that they tasted. One that came home looked interesting to me and Karsten said it was good, so we thought we'd try it for our "Halloween Phantom" treat (suprise a friend with a treat left on their doorstep). They were not the most beautiful looking cupcakes, but they turned out pretty tasty. Here is the recipe:

1 box of yellow cake mix
1 15 oz can of pumpkin
1/2 bag cinnamon chips (like chocolate chips, but cinnamon flavor. I bought a Hershey brand).

Mix the pumpkin and cake mix. The batter will be thick. Stir in the cinnamon chips. Fill lined muffin cups (or unlined works too) with batter (probably 3/4ths full). Bake 325 for about 20 minutes. When done you can dust them with powdered sugar (that's what we did) or dip them in melted butter and then cinnamon/sugar mixture. They are great right out of the oven. May not be a prize winning recipe, but it is super simple and worth trying!
